Documentary Film Grants<\/span><\/span><\/h1>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row section_type=”container-width”][vc_column]
<\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]Every year, the Foundation awards some 10,000 Canadian dollars and 5,000 Canadian dollars grants to filmmakers to assist in the production of a documentary project. The grant is aimed at filmmakers born and living in The Global South (Africa, Asia or Latin America) who want to direct a film in the language of their choice that respects the aims of the Foundation. To apply, the filmmaker must:[\/vc_column_text]
<\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. complete the Application Form<\/u><\/a> in French, English or Spanish;<\/li>\n
  2. include a synopsis in French, English, or Spanish (max. 5 pages) that describes the content, characters, situations, theme as well as the treatment and style of the project;<\/li>\n
  3. send a Vimeo link of a previous completed documentary work, and make sure this link is valid until December 1st of every year<\/strong>. If possible it should be sub-titled or versioned in French, English or Spanish. If the work does not exist in any of these three languages, please send a written transcript of the dialogue and narration in one of the three languages. Send also any visual element (photographs, filmed images, trailer, \u201cpitch\u201d if available) in support of the proposed documentary project.<\/li>\n
  4. include a detailed production budget for the documentary, as well as a financing plan which includes the Foundation grant and other sources of proposed or assured financing;<\/li>\n
  5. if possible, present two support letters from partners, NGOs, groups, associations or individuals supporting the project<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]Applications must be sent by e-mail at altercine@videotron.ca<\/a><\/strong>. Please compile all the required documents in a single PDF file of a maximum size of 5 MB, a minimal character size of 11 points and a line spacing of no less than 1.5. Only applications sent at the latest on August 15 of each year will be accepted. Candidates will be advised of the decisions of the Selection Committee before December 31 of each year.<\/p>\n

    The grant will be divided in two parts:[\/vc_column_text]

    1. the first payment of 6,000 Canadian dollars (for a 10,000$ grant) after the project is selected.<\/li>\n
    2. the final payment of 4,000 Canadian dollars on reception of a Hi quality Computer File (10 GB) copies of the completed documentary.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
